In April of 2020, just a few short days after my birthday, I felt it. It wasn't there the prior week or even the prior month. So I knew it was a stranger. I thought it might be temporary as if it had just gotten tangled up and lost its way. But for the next few days, each time I felt it, it was in the same place. 11'oclock. Unmoved. Untangled. It got louder for me and I simply wasn't going to allow the noise to drown me out. Instead of turning away from it, I turned and faced it. I knew my body enough to respond to its differences; I was presented with my toughest bout yet:

Stage 1A Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

That is when my private journey began.
